Consider Carefully Your Conduct
Galatians 6:1
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
Consider yourself. That’s a hard text. What does it mean to consider myself? What I need to do is go to him and say “Brother, you’ve fallen, but I want to help you back up.” I need to look at him and think if I was where he is, how would I want him to treat me? Consider if it were me. No one is exempt from falling. You may be fifty or sixty, but you aren’t dead yet. In a weak moment, you could get caught up in some kind of business scheme and lose every dime you have. Your spouse could rub you the wrong way and you could go off and do something you ought not to do. You may never fall; thank God if you don’t.
Let’s say I’m looking down at Miller. Miller has fallen whether he tried to or not and he’s out of fellowship. But remember, he’s still in the family Just assume his name is Miller Ray. Even though he’s a rascal, he’s still a Ray If I’ve known him for forty years and he just did this after his fortieth birthday, then I need to back track and look at his record. I see he was a good guy up until forty. If he made such a drastic change, what happened to bring him to that point, because for forty years he stood. He was teaching Bible class and singing in the choir. He was paying his tithes. I need to at least give him credit for standing for forty years. But all of a sudden he has fallen. Maybe he got a little mental block or maybe he’s disturbed over something or maybe he’s being lead by somebody.
Lest thou also be tempted. If you don’t handle things correctly, God will snatch the cover off your sin and make it worse than the sin of the brother you are trying to expose. If you rejoice because your brother or your sister has fallen, God will expose you and let somebody take a real good look at you, because you are a candidate for the same sin.
