The hand of the Lord

Key scripture – “The hand of the Lord was upon me, and he brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord and set me down in the middle of the valley; it was full of bones. And he led me around among them, and behold, there were very many on the surface of the valley, and behold, they were very dry. And he said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” And I answered, “O Lord God, you know.” Then he said to me, “Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.” (Ezekiel 37:1-4),

I am sure that at one time or another in your life, you have felt that everywhere you looked your circumstances felt like a pile of dead, dry bones, just like the scene in Ezekiel 37:1-4.

God showed a pile of dry brittle bones to Ezekiel and He asked him, “Can these dry bones live?” (Ezekiel 37:3). In other words, He was asking Ezekiel, “Can anything be done with this mess? Can this situation change?” Then God told Ezekiel to speak to the bones and say to them, “O dry bones, hear the word of The Lord.” (Ezekiel 37:4).

If you have a big mess in your life and you are trying to run the devil off your property, you can do it with the Word of God. You can say to the problems in your life, “Listen you big mess, hear the Word of God! Listen financial problem, hear the Word of God! Listen sickness, hear the Word of God! Listen you tormenting spirit, hear the Word of God!” Then speak the Word of God to your problem.

When you read the rest of the story in Ezekiel, you will see that after he did what God said to do and he prophesied to those dry bones, they came together, sinews and flesh came upon them, and skin covered them.

“Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live. And I will lay sinews upon you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live, and you shall know that I am the Lord.” So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I prophesied, there was a sound, and behold, a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to its bone. And I looked, and behold, there were sinews on them, and flesh had come upon them, and skin had covered them. But there was no breath in them.” (Ezekiel 37:5-8)

We then see in Ezekiel 37:9 The Lord told Ezekiel to prophesy and command that breath and spirit come into them. “Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, Thus says the Lord God: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.” (Ezekiel 37:9). In verse 10 Ezekiel said, “So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the breath and spirit came into [the bones], and they lived and stood up on their feet, an exceedingly great army.”

All of that happened because one man, Ezekiel, prophesied God’s Word over a situation that needed to be changed. Let me ask you: What are you saying to the dead dry circumstances in your life? Are you prophesying the Word of God to your dead bones? Or is what you are saying making them more dead and dry? Every time you say things like: “Nothing in my life is ever going to change. Every time I think something good is going to happen, I get knocked down. If God really loved me this would not be happening to me, etc., etc.” You are making your dead dry situation worse.

If that is what you are saying then you are asking for more trouble because you are giving the devil the right to use his power in your life. Instead, you need to learn how to speak God’s Word and neutralize Satan’s power. Don’t talk about how you feel or what you think; do not look at your life and just see what you do not have. Don’t let your feelings and emotions run your life, instead open your mouth and talk about what God has said about your situation. Once you do that Satan is powerless because he cannot do anything against God’s Word.

Start saying this about your problems, “God is working in ____________. If I do what God has instructed me to do in His Word I will see Him revive and bring breath and spirit back into what was once dead, dry bones just like He did in Ezekiel.” God can revive and change the dry, brittle bones in your life.

God has declared and shown us in Ezekiel what will happen to our dead dry circumstances if we trust and obey Him and say what He says about our problem.

“I am God, and there is no other. I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times what is still to come. ” (Isaiah 46: 9-10)

Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, forgive me for letting my feelings and emotions control me and rob me of the peace, joy and strength that I have through You. No matter what is going on in my life I will take my lofty imaginations and thoughts captive and replace them with Your Word. I will look at my circumstances and say about them, and to them, what You say about them in Your Word. I trust You, I will obey You. Because of You I have hope about the problems in my life that are dead dry bones. My dead dry bones have been changed because of Jesus. My dead dry bones will work out for my good because of Your Word. I have power over my dead dry bones because of the Holy Spirit. I have power over my dead dry bones because of Your Word. I have power over my dead dry bones because of prayer. I have power over my dead dry bones because of Your grace. My dead dry bones have been made new because of You. Praise God!! In the Name of Jesus, the Living Word and the Giver of life to dead dry bones, I pray, Amen.
