a storm will come

 Laura Ingle ·

Key scripture – “Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, but the boat by this time was a long way from the land, beaten by the waves, for the wind was against them. And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” and they cried out in fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid” (Matthew 14:22-27).

Do you ever get doubt storms where you find yourself wondering…”How can I get through this? When will this end?” Do you have turbulent days when the enemy is too big, and the answers too few?

Every so often a storm will come, and you look up into the blackening sky and say, “God, I need a little light, please show me the way.”

In today’s Key scripture, The light came for Jesus’ disciples but in a way that they did not expect. A figure came to them walking on the water and one thing is for sure, they were not looking for their deliverance to come walking on the water, that is why when they saw Him they said, “‘It’s a ghost,’ and they cried out in fear.”

Since Jesus came in a way that they didn’t expect, they almost missed seeing the answer to their prayers, and unless we look and listen closely, we risk making the same mistake! God solves our problems and comes to us in ways that we do not expect. He also does not need us to tell Him how to solve the problem and when to do it, therefore, what you and I need to do in those situations is; just do what we can and then leave the rest to God, because His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts than our thoughts. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:9). He will do far more abundantly than all that you can ask or think. “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us.” (Ephesians 3:20). He also will never leave you or forsake you. “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6).

So give all your burdens, cares and concerns to Him, trust Him, and take Jesus’ advice, when He told the disciples, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.” You will be amazed at what He does.

Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father it is so comforting to me that when fear and doubt are trying to grip me and get a hold of me, all I have to do is call out to You. I don’t have to impress You with big words and eloquent prayers, all I need to do is be honest with You and talk to You from my heart, talk to You like You are sitting next to me, Father to child, friend to friend. You are Yahweh Rohi, my Shepherd, and You carry not only my burdens but You carry me too. You are my strength, The Lord God Almighty, El Shaddai, I do not have to be strong on my own because I have Your strength, and You are my banner, Yahweh Nissi, I do not have to fight this battle because You cover me and You will fight for me. I will not be destroyed nor will I be overcome by this problem because You are my victory. Than You Father for the peace that I have because of You. In the Name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, I pray, Amen.
