It took three nails

Key scripture -“I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I, but Christ liveth in me” (Galatians 2:20).

It took three nails to crucify our Savior to the cross. God says that if we are to allow Christ to live through us then the old man/woman in each of us must be crucified. If you try to voluntarily crucify your flesh, you will never be able to complete the process by yourself. It usually requires a third party to put the third nail into the old man/woman that we are, which allows the work to be completed in us.

For Jesus, it was Judas’ betrayal.
For David, it was Absalom’s betrayal.
For Joseph, it was his brothers’ betrayal.

Betrayal is a nail that will either complete the death process, or we will linger in unforgiveness and bitterness, and that will result in an even worse state, which is partial death. If we get bitter and not better then that condition never allows us to experience true freedom.

When Jesus died on the cross He was freed to fulfill His mission on earth. He was resurrected from death to glory. When you and I die to ourselves we are freed to become all God wants us to become. God gives us our cross in order to give us a new life in Christ. That is why Jesus said take up your cross daily.

“And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself?” (Luke 9:23-25).

Is someone in your life trying to put the third nail into your death process? Do not fight it. Thank God for that person and ask Him to bless them. Then allow God to complete His process of killing the old self and transforming you into a person that is just like Jesus. “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. You have freed me from my chains.” (Psalm 116:15, 16).

Remember, God is willing to assume full responsibility for the life totally yielded to Him. What are you waiting for, turn everything in your life over to Him and you will get better not bitter.

Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, each day I die to myself, my will, my desires, and I live for Christ. Thank You Father for the people in my life who You are using to drive the third nail into me so that I am truly dead to myself and alive for Christ. I choose to get BETTER not BITTER. I know that the trials in my life are allowed by You in order to increase my faith and to remove my old sinful self and replace it with my new self, which is after Your likeness in true righteousness and holiness. (Ephesians 4:22-24). I am free from the yoke of sin and death and I take up Jesus’ yoke which is easy and light and full of grace, mercy, lovingkindness, faithfulness, freedom, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, forgiveness, gentleness, hope, and love. I yield my life to You. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
