Do you want to defeat Satan?

 Laura Ingle ·

Key scripture – “For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword…” (Hebrews 4:12).

Do you want to defeat Satan? Then use the Word of a God against him and he will flee from you.

The Word of God is all-powerful. Satan fears the Word of God. He knows its overcoming power. He knows that Jesus, the Living Word, has already defeated him on the Cross. We must learn to use The Word against him because it is an offensive weapon. Many of us study the Bible, but it’s not enough just to study it, we must learn to employ it. The Word of God is a sword, and it is meant to be used to defeat Satan.

When our Lord Jesus Christ, was tempted by Satan in the wilderness, He took the Word of God—that sharp two-edged sword—and time after time He used it to defeat Satan. Jesus said in response to Satan’s temptations, “It is written…. It is written…. It is written….” We can rely on and use the Word of God just like He did and we must do it!

So sharpen you Sword today. Read the Word. Stay in the Word. Memorize the Word. Begin today. “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” (Psalm 119:11).

If you memorize one verse per week, by this time next year you’ll have committed to memory 52 verses! What an arsenal!

“Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.” (Deuteronomy 11:18-20).

What are you waiting for, go ahead and get started and the next time Satan comes at you with thoughts of fear, depression, guilt, defeat, regret, worry, doubt and despair, take those thoughts captive and replace them with The Word of God.

“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).

Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, Your Word is worth more to me than all the gold on this earth. Your Word is flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times. (Psalm 12:6). I know to defeat Satan I need to always carry with me the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (Ephesians 6:17). I know that all your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal. I have hidden Your Word in my heart and it provides me with inner strength, joy, and peace. My love for Your Word continues to grow and grow. Father, “Never take your word of truth from my mouth, for I have put my hope in your laws. I will always obey your law, for ever and ever. I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts. I will speak of your statutes before kings and will not be put to shame, for I delight in your commands because I love them. I reach out for your commands, which I love, that I may meditate on your decrees.” (Psalm 119:43-48). Like the psalmist, Your Words are sweeter than honey to me. (Psalm 119:103). I have tasted and seen that The Lord is good. In the Name of Jesus, the Precious Living Word, I pray, Amen.
