Romans 8:29
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might he the first born among many brethren.
For whom he did foreknow. The Greek word for foreknow is the word prognosis from which we get the word prognosticator, a person that can know now what’s going to happen tomorrow. Our weathermen give us a prognosis of what’s going to happen on a five day forecast. Well if your think the weatherman is all right, check out God, because God doesn’t make mistakes. He knows. And that’s why I love him so well. Because even when I mess up, I have to say, he knew it before he saved me and he still saved me in spite of my future record. He knew when he saved me that I would stumble; that I was going to fall, and he saved me anyway. He foreknows.
Whom the Lord did foreknow, them he also did predestinate. The Greek word for predestination is the word purseo. In the Greek it means to mark off a boundary. God has set a place for you to go. Have you ever tried to get something and couldn’t get it? You went shopping for houses and time after time the deal fell through. But God knew the one you needed where you could make a home. Sometimes we don’t understand what He’s doing. Every time we try to go through a door we don’t need to go in, He closes the door. God says, “I know what I’m trying to do; I’m keeping you from killing your crazy self so I’ll close the door on you. But the door I want you to go in, I’ll leave wide open so you can walk right through. That’s what I love about the God I serve. He is there all the time. That’s good news to me. That’s why you should let him lead you. You say I don’t know where I’m going or what I’m going to do when I get there, but the God I serve, is our heavenly Father. He’s over us, looking down on us. For whom he did foreknow, he did predestinate and design a plan for us.
