Cool And Calm
Mark 4:40
And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith?
Why is it that you are so fearful? How is it that you have no faith? Jesus says you are trying to put fear and faith in the same heart and it doesn’t work. If you’ve got fear in your heart, faith steps back. But if you have faith, fear steps back. God did not give us the spirit of fear, but he gave us the power of faith. So if you’ve got faith, even if you’re in the storm, you’ll be able to say, “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy will come in the morning.” If you have faith, it doesn’t matter how dark the night, you can say, “But in the morning, the sun, it will shine.”
Mark 4:37 says that a great storm of wind arose, but 4:39 says, “And He arose.” Jesus arose with power. Whenever your storm shows up, the Lord will show up too. No matter where the storm finds you, the Lord is on the storm’s trail. When that storm tries to come and devour you, the Lord will be right there. How easily the Lord handles the storm. He walked out to the edge of the ship and talked to the wind like I would talk to my dog. He said, “Peace.” He didn’t even have to holler. It seems like the disciples would have known he was the God of nature, that whatever He said, nature would have to obey him. If God says, “Sun stand still.” the sun will have to stand still. If God says, “Jericho walls fall.” they will all fall down.
The disciples had been with Jesus before, but when He calmed that storm somebody on board said, “What manner of man is this, that even the wind and sea obey him?” After Jesus spoke, there was a great calm. Storms can be raging in other places, but in your heart you have a peace of mind. You can sit cool and calm while others are running around with panic and fear. My Father has his eye on me so I don’t have anything to worry about. If God can create heaven and earth, he’s able to handle your little storm.
