Dialogue With Yourself

Luke 12:17

And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?

And he said to himself. Now if you notice no one else heard him; he talked to himself. It may make you nervous to be around folk that talk to themselves. But sometimes it’s good to talk to you. And if you get enough pressure on you, you will talk to you. Have you ever been sitting at a light and you see somebody talking and talking and talking, but there is nobody in the car but them? They just might be going through something and they need to talk it out before making a decision. Talk to yourself, because nobody knows you like you know yourself. Other folk will assume and think that they know you. But when you know you, you have to talk to yourself.

There was a man in the grocery store pushing a cart with a little boy in it. And the little boy was just crying and hollering. The man said, “Hang on in there, Albert. It will be all right Albert, just hang on.” The little boy kept crying and he’d take the pacifier out of his mouth and throw it on the floor. The daddy would pick it up and wipe it off and put it back in the boy’s mouth and say “Hold on Albert; hang on in there, Albert.” with the little boy just screaming and hollering. “Albert, it’s going to be all right.” He got up to the counter to pay for his groceries and the cashier said to him, “Man you deserve to be commended. So much patience you have with little Albert. You constantly talked to him to try to get him calmed down.” And the man said, “My name is Albert! His name is Mickey. I’m not trying to calm him down; I’m talking to myself.” And every once in a while, you need to talk to yourself. Speak the truths of God’s word to yourself. Apply the principles of the Word to the problem at hand. 1 Timothy 4:15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. Take time to think the problem through.
