Fixed Faith
Genesis 22:6
And Abraham took, the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.
Isaac was not only a very loved son, but he was also a law abiding son. He was not just a little boy when Abraham took him up the mountain. Sarah died four years after Isaac was offered as a sacrifice. And Sarah was one hundred twenty-seven years old when she died. Since Sarah was ninety when she gave birth to Isaac, then Isaac was thirty-three years old when he was offered as a sacrifice. Here is a young man, thirty-three years old, still following his elderly father around. Not once do you see Isaac rebelling against his father. Even when Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it upon Isaac with a knife and the fire in his hand, Isaac stayed next to him. Not once did he slow down even knowing that he was on his way to the sacrifice.
Then they came to the place of which God had told him, and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood. Have you ever asked why Isaac obeyed his father’s wishes? One reason is that Isaac knew his father was moving by faith. The reason children rebel against their parents is because they don’t see the faith in mama and in daddy. When they see you moving by faith, they will trust in you because faith really works. When your children see you have to light a cigarette every time you get nervous, then they will light up when they get nervous. They may light a marijuana stick. If you complain and worry about how you’re going to make it, so will your children. The Bible says when you trust in Him, your way is already made. Our children often follow in our footsteps; that’s why it is of the utmost importance that we do every thing based upon faith. You can’t see faith, but it works.
