God has made promises throughout the Bible

Key scripture- “For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.” (2 Peter 1:4).

Did you know that all throughout the Bible God has made promises that He wants you to rely on, stand on, and put all your weight on?

The Bible is chock full of universal promises that are for all God’s children at all times, and God wants us to test His promises. He wants us to see that what He said is really true. You might be saying to yourself, “What are some of His promises?” Below are just a few of the hundreds of promises that God has made in His Word that apply to His children, which includes you.

A promise that you do not have to be discouraged or afraid because He will always be with you and never leave you: “Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you or abandon you. (Deuteronomy 31:8). “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9).

A promise that you do not have to live in despair and doubt because God is in control: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” (Proverbs 3: 5-6). “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.” (Psalm 37:5-6).

A promise that no matter what weapons people try to use to hurt and destroy you, they will never succeed: “But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord; their vindication will come from me. I, the Lord, have spoken!” (Isaiah 54:17).

A promise that you will be victorious over everything that Satan throws at you. “Each one of you will put to flight a thousand of the enemy, for the Lord your God fights for you, just as he has promised.” (Joshua 23:10).
“The Lord will cause your enemies who ride against you to be defeated before you. They shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.” (Deuteronomy 28:7).

A promise that you will not be harmed by evil. You will be delivered from all of your troubles and not one of your bones will be broken. “The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry; The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all; he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken. The Lord will rescue his servants; no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.” (Psalm 34:10, 15, 17, 19-20, 22).

A promise that God will vindicate you, He will avenge, justify, defend and uphold you. “But the Lord God helps me; therefore I have not been disgraced; therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame. He who vindicates me is near. Who will contend with me? Let us stand up together. Who is my adversary? Let him come near to me. Behold, the Lord God helps me; who will declare me guilty? Behold, all of them will wear out like a garment; the moth will eat them up.” (Isaiah 50:7-9). “For the Lord will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants.” (Psalm 135:14).

Do you get it, God is a promiser, He keeps each and every one of His promises, and He wants us to test His promises.

If you are thinking, “I have not been experiencing God’s promises in my life. What do I need to do to activate His promises? How do I experience God is with me?
How do I experience God is in control? How do I experience God is good?” I am glad you asked. God’s promises are all activated by faith, otherwise, you may know a lot of God’s promises but it will not make any difference at all in your life if it is not activated by faith. It is like knowing a diet, but you won’t lose weight unless you practice it. It is like you can know the prescription for an ailment, but it is not yours until you actually take it.

So if you want to activate the promises of God and experience more of God’s promises in your life you need to do these three things, and this will get the promises happening at your house and in your life.

1. You have got to see it. Sometimes you don’t see something unless you look closely. Have you ever had that experience where you have looked at something, and one day it all seems clicks. It is like the light bulb went on, but before it did you didn’t really see something and then all of a sudden you are like WOW! I see it! You have to have that with God’s promises. You may know about God’s promises and even be able to quote them, but until the light goes on and you really see it and really understand it, then you will not see what God is promising you. What I found that will help you see His promises, is to pray and ask God to give you wisdom and understanding regarding the promise that you are focusing on, and He will do it. Also, keep reading the promise over and over, think about it, chew on it, and read what others have said about the promise.

2. You have to savor it. Treasure it in your heart and go over and over it in your heart. You have got to feel the weight of the promise and picture the promise as accomplished, as a done deal. It will help your prayer life if you picture it in your mind as happening, and thank God that it is happening. Tell God, “Even though it is not visual right now to me, by faith I believe it and I know I will see it. I believe Your Word and I believe that You are at work today bringing this about. I believe I will see it in the land of the living.” You have to start to picture it by faith, and talk to God and tell Him you can see it happening.

3. Share it. God’s promises become real to you when you tell other Christians, “This is what God has given to me. This is the promise that I am resting in.” Begin to confess the Word of God to others, because there is power in that when you speak the Word out. Start saying. “God’s Word says this, and I believe it, and I am waiting on it. I am trusting God in my life for this.”

So what are you waiting for, don’t waste another minute, start right now activating the promises of God in your life.

Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, give me the wisdom to understand Your promises and really live them and apply them to my life. Teach me how to see Your promises with the eyes of my heart. To see Your promises clearly with my mind. Give me discernment and understanding. Give me the courage to focus on and put all my weight on Your promises no matter what is going on around me. Give me the strength to hang on to Your promises, to focus on them, and never let go. I proclaim today that: I will not let go of Your promises, I will not doubt, I will not shrink back, I will not give up any ground, I will stand firm and not waiver; I will not buckle under; and I will not turn to the right or left. I will walk in faith. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
