Obsess, Observe, Obey

Obsess, Observe, Obey

John 12:26

If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

The Lord wants us to be obsessed with him. Have you ever seen anybody that was just obsessed with other folk? I’ve seen movies and read about women being so obsessed with a man that they trailed him. She watched him and followed him. The man was continually in her mind. Of course, we should not be obsessed with another person, but this is an illustration of how the Lord wants us to be preoccupied with him. He wants us to wake up calling his name. He wants us to go to bed thinking about Him. He doesn’t want us to let any other god come before Him. He wants us to walk and talk in His name. Our God doesn’t want a part-time lover. You can’t just love Him on Sunday morning and forget Him on Monday morning. Lay down in His goodness and get up with His grace. When God sees that we are obsessed with Him, He knows we have been healed.

We must closely observe our Lord. It’s difficult to follow somebody when you’re far in the distance. You’ve got to get close enough to see where they are going. Don’t get too far from your shepherd. Tune into his prayer. Find out where He’s going. Ask Him to let you follow Him. We cannot learn His ways without getting close to Him. We must be instructed by Him and be continually reaching toward Him.

Also, as followers of the Lord, we must be careful to obey Him. Too many of us want to write our own script of what we want to do. We set up in our minds as to what. It is easy for us to go to a doctor we’ve never seen and do just what he says, taking the prescription he recommends. We put our faith and trust in the doctor although he rnay or may not be helping us. How much more should we obey God.
