He Delivers Life Afresh
Psalms 23:3
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
When God gets ready to get something done, He will send somebody. For instance, when He got ready to start the human race, he got a man named Adam. When He was ready to bless the race, He used a man named Abraham. When he got ready to feed the race, He used a man named Joseph. When He got ready to lead the race, He used a man named Moses. When He got ready to march the race, He used a man named Joshua. When he wanted wisdom for the race, He used a man named Solomon. When He wanted strength for the race, He used a man named Samson. When He wanted a musician for the race, He used a man named David. When He wanted a weeper for the race, He used a man named Jeremiah. When He wanted patience for the race, He used a man named Job. When He got ready to baptize the race, He used a man named John the Baptist. When He wanted a preacher for the race, He used a man named Paul.
But when God wanted my soul restored, He didn’t trust it in the hands of anyone else. The Bible says, He restores. In other words, “This is too serious to put in the hands of somebody else. I’ve got to do it myself.” One of these days, this old body is going back to dust, so you can’t put all your investment in your body. You shouldn’t spend all your time trying to look and smell good. The taker will show up. But there’s another part on the inside, the soul. When your body goes back to the dust, your soul will have to take wings and fly away somewhere to be at rest.
Not only does He restore my soul, but He also leads me in the path. There is a crooked path that we take on our own. You don’t have to teach people how to be crooked; we pick that up on our own. But we must be taught how to do right, how to tell the truth, and how to live right.
