Completed By His Blood
Hebrews 9:13-14
For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
His blood also brings sanctification. You see not only did he erase me, he also accepted me in the beloved. Sanctification means holy and without blame. It means set apart for a holy use. Now here I am, a wretch undone. I’m a vagabond; I’m nothing. When the Lord picked me up, I was like an automobile with the frame bent out of shape and an engine that had thrown its rod. The transmission was slipping; the universal joint had jumped out of its socket. My tires were flat, my battery was low, and my radiator was boiling over. My lights weren’t working. But Jesus came along and restored me back into the family. And now I can say, “I have been sanctified.”
1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin. It is like a cleaning an oven. After the oven is sealed, the oven cleaner goes to work and cleans everything. So if you waste any grease, you don’t have to go back and scrub; you can just wipe it off. Now if your oven cleaner will do that kind of stuff, can you imagine what the blood of Jesus will do? You see I’ve been covered with His blood. When a little stain of sin gets on me, the Lord just comes along and sends one of his angels to straighten it up.
I’m glad that the blood of Jesus brings atonement. It brings justification. It brings sanctification. And it brings redemption. I was on the auction block ready to be sold to the highest bidder. My sin debt had to be paid. But Jesus came to Calvary’s cross and said, “I’ll pay the price.”
