Defeating Faults

Defeating Faults
Galatians 6:1
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
If a man be overtaken in a fault. The text didn’t say sin; it says a fault. The text is actually talking about sin. Now a sin is a fault but a fault doesn’t have to be a sin. Notice also that the sin is not named. He just called it a fault. He didn’t even name what it was because what could be a fault to you may not be a fault to somebody else. If the sin was named, then those people not involved in that particular sin would think that they got by.
Ye which are spiritual. You’ve got to be able to stand. When you walk in the light, he is in the light. You have fellowship one with the other. Beginning in Galatians 5:17, the Bible tells us that we ought to be able to stand. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. If you have stood, then you can fall. You cannot fall if you are already down.
This is a huge family that we’re in. One tragedy about this family is that many times we lose the war in our own barracks. We find ourselves fighting each other. Many times we fight other denominations. We fight other races and other colors. We even fight each other in the same fellowship. We find ourselves shooting fiery darts at each other, cutting each other down and criticizing within the same fellowship. We’re in the same family, listening to the same message, on our way to the same heaven. But we find ourselves talking each other down. What a tragedy! The writer here seems to say that we should not air out dirty laundry among the unsaved. These are things that need to take place among family members. Every once in a while you need to call the family together and just talk to the family. Regardless of being saved, we still are human.
