Mend With Meekness
Galatians 6:1
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
Restore. The word restore means to mend. In the Greek, it could be compared to a man with a broken arm. The arm is mended rather than being cut off because it can be used again. It is the same as a person who has fallen. Have you ever made a mistake while trying to live for the Lord? Have you behaved in a way you knew was not of God? If so, you need to be restored.
Restoration does not come through criticism. The word does not say ye which are spiritual go criticize them and tell their business all over town. We should not do all we can to bury him. When a brother has fallen, he’s already down. His conscious is whipping him. He can’t get a prayer through. The spirit is whipping him. Know that God will take just so much. But it is up to God to decide the time.
When God gets tired, He will chasten you or warn you. If you don’t listen, then he will rebuke you. He’ll get his stick out. If you continue in sin, God will literally take you out. Somebody will wake up one morning looking for you and you won’t be there. You weren’t sick. God says, “Look you are damaging to my ministry so I’ll just take you out privately. No one will know what happened. It is better for me if I get you off planet earth. You cannot play with God.
Restore such a one in the spirit of meekness. Be gentle to the fallen brother. Show kindness. Give him some tender loving care. Don’t stop shaking his hand or speaking to him. When you’re strong in the Lord, you realize the brother or sister sinned against God, not you. If you know Whose you are, you won’t let anybody take away your spirit or stop you from doing what you’re supposed to do for Him. God reaches way, way, way down to pick us up and bring us to a better place. Be a restorer!
