“Let there be light!”
Laura Ingle Key scripture – “Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness; He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.” (Psalm 112:4)
“Let there be light!” was God’s first creative command (Genesis 1:3). In that instance, the switch was turned on, and the darkness was displaced forever.
“Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.” (Genesis 1:3-4).
Since that moment, the darkness has never been able to overwhelm the light. “And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” (John 1:5). The reason why the light overpowers the darkness is because the light is Jesus Christ, the Living Word of God.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men… That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.” (John 1:1-4, 9).
The “upright”, who are all of us who depend on Christ’s goodness and strength as their own, will journey through dark passages, hard seasons of trial and tribulation, but as we go through those seasons, all of us will discover that when we are down in the jaws of the deep and it seems to be so dark, God will speak once more “Let there be light!” and the darkness around us will be bright as day. The darkness cannot blind us or bind us because we live in the light. We only pass through the valley of the shadow of death we do not live there, and God is right there with us, His rod protects us and His staff comforts us. (Psalm 23:4).
Instead of focusing on the darkness around you, focus on His Word and what He says about it:
“If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,”Even the night shall be light about me; Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, But the night shines as the day; The darkness and the light are both alike to You.” (Psalm 139:11-12).
“He reveals mysteries from the darkness And brings the deep darkness into light.” (Job 12:22)
“It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, And the light dwells with Him. (Daniel 2:22).
“For You are my lamp, O Lord; The Lord shall enlighten my darkness.” (2 Samuel 22:29).
“For You will light my lamp; The Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.” (Psalm 18:28).
“Light arises in the darkness for the upright; He is gracious and compassionate and righteous upright—in right standing with God.” (Psalm 112:4).
“Once more Jesus addressed the crowd. He said, “I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” (John 8:12).
Jesus said, “I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes and trusts in Me as Savior—all those who anchor their hope in Me and rely on the truth of My message will not continue to live in darkness.” (John 12:46).
No matter what is going on in your life today keep clinging to Jesus, let His light shine in your life and He will over power the darkness, because Jesus is The Word and He is “a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105).
Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, You are the Father of lights. There is no darkness or shifting shadow in You that is why John told us. “This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1:5-7). You are my lamp and You lighten the darkness around me. I used to walk in darkness but I have seen the light. I no longer dwell in the land of the shadow of death, because Jesus, the Light of the world, lives in me. I have been washed and cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ and now I shine in the light of Jesus, who is gracious, full of compassion, and righteous. Like the old hymn says; “I saw the light, I saw the light, no more darkness, no more night, now I’m so happy, no sorrow in sight, Praise The Lord, I saw the light”. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
