The Valid Viewpoint
John 17:1
These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee.
These words spake Jesus. There are times when you hear people talking. They say one thing before you, yet they say something just the opposite when you are not around. Jesus however, was truthful before our faces and behind our backs. In John 17 He literally allowed the Holy Spirit to take a picture of his heart to share with the universe how much he truly loved us. Whenever Jesus says something, it is profound, it is sufficient.
Jesus lifted up his eyes. When most of us are headed for crisis or crosses, we look at the cross of crisis. Jesus would do just the opposite; He would look up. Most of us focus on our situation. But you have to look above the stuff you are dealing with and look at the Person who can do something about it. There is no need to spend restless nights over stuff you can not change.
He lifted up his eyes towards heaven. Whenever you lift up your eyes, there’s a refreshing Spirit that rests in your bosom. Something about looking up encourages you to go forward in the body of Christ. Jesus lifted up his eyes toward heaven and said, “Father.” You also ought to be on talking terms with your Heavenly Father.
Don’t try to live this life without being on talking terms with God. If your relationship is not right with God, get it right. It doesn’t matter who you have against you if God is for you. So make sure that you are on talking terms with Him. After I’ve had a conversation with the Lord, I feel better regardless of the situation. Sometimes God doesn’t change the situation; He just equips you to handle whatever it is that’s coming. He makes you tough enough to be able to walk through situations. God may not move the Red Sea but He will give you strength to go through the other side.
