Moral Madness
Malachi 3:7
Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them.
Have you ever noticed how bad our moral life is? There was a time that we would hide when we would do wrong. We do it openly now. There was a time when you would make a mistake and you would try to make sure no one knew about it. Now you tell it yourself. We have bad morals. We do anything that we are big enough to do and do it proudly without any shame at all. In the past, even men that didn’t have any training knew how to respect ladies and knew how to treat people; but it’s no more.
There was a time that a man thought it not robbery to take care of his house. He wouldn’t send his woman out hustling, begging, and borrowing. He would make sure bread was in the house and that the utilities were paid. He had means to make ends meet. But now he will lie up in the house and wait on her welfare check to show up. And she’s comfortable with that kind of living. Morals are so low that you have to take men to court to make them pay for their own children. That’s really honest to goodness low.
There was a time that we had respect for the house of God. When a person came near to God’s house, they were careful in the way they would conduct themselves. But now you might catch some little hoodlums gambling on the doorstep of the church because they are imitating the adults in their lives. It’s a shame our morals are so low that at times we don’t even possess good dog sense.
The other day I watched a dog trotting down the street when he saw a dog house with no door, but the stray dog wouldn’t go in. Even though it was open, he knew the house did not belong to him. But here we are with college degrees and with all kind of sense and education and we have to put wrought iron on windows to keep other smart alecks from coming in. It is moral madness.
