Stay On The Alert!

1 Peter 5:8

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.

You do have an enemy. You need to be sober while God is bringing you out. In other words, you need to be awake. Be vigilant and be alert. Be ready to move at His command. The devil majors in trying to frighten you. He is as a roaring lion. Can you imagine walking up on a lion some where in the woods in a midnight hour and he walks up behind you and roars. I mean everything about you will shake. I don’t care how bad you are. Somebody said they went out one day and had a gun and they were going to take care of somebody and somebody slipped up behind them. They ran all the way to the house before they remembered that they had a gun. The devil comes up on you suddenly like that to make you forget your defense. He does all he can to upset you and make you scared. He wants to make you forget who you are and whose you are.

He walks about as a roaring lion seeking whom he can devour. Oh he may be close to you. He may be trying to get you down. He comes to you sometimes in a midnight hour with all kinds of crazy thoughts. He whispers stuff in your mind. And he plants seeds in your life to make you think you’re less than what you are or maybe make you think you’re more than what you are. He will have you looking under eyed at somebody else. He uses all kinds of devices.

He wants to weaken your faith. The devil is not after your looks or your money. If he can weaken you in the faith, then you’ll start backing off the Lord. You will stop reading your Bible and praying. You’ll start replacing prayer meeting with some other junk. He’s trying to get you to turn from the faith. But you’ve got to resist, resist, resist. Put up a fight. When you are submitted to the Lord, you can resist the devil because you got power. Keep on alert!
