The Divine Washing Machine
Revelation 1:5
…Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood.
He washed us. I like that because some scholars and theologians say that the word should not be translated ‘washed’ but ‘loosed’. Loosed implies that we were in chains. But by saying washed, it meant we were in stain. Now a lot people can be in chains and get loose and still act like they’re in chains. Have you ever wondered how elephants are trained? The trainer takes an elephant while he is young and still a small creature. He gets a rope or chain and ties around his leg and puts a stake in the ground. The elephant stands there pulling on the stake, just pulling trying to get a loose. But because he’s weak, he can’t pull it up from the ground. But after he gets of age, the stake and chain are taken away and just a little rope is wrapped around his leg and just thrown around the stake. If the elephant wanted to, he could break away any time he got ready. But mentally, he thinks he’s still chained. And so he just stands there, wobbling from one side to the other wondering, hoping he can get a loose. When he’s really all ready loosed. And that’s what happens sometimes when people have been in chains. You are a loosed, but you think you’re still in chains. And so when you think you’re in chains, you’ll act like you’re in chains, because the scar moves from the outside to the inside. It’s a mental scar.
Being washed means the stain has been taken away. Nobody can de-stain us like the Lord. He gave His blood in place of my sins-His blood. My sins—out; his blood—in. The blood of Jesus is so powerful that it can get the stain out. As a matter of fact, the Lord used what you might call a divine washing machine. He takes that washing machine and once he places you in the divine washing machine, when you come out you’re whiter than snow. You are washed and free of stains and chains.
