Change Of Mind

Revelation 2:16

Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

Repentance really should be one of our daily practices. We don’t need to just repent when we first meet the Lord because we go daily committing sin. The Bible says anything that is not of faith is sin. That means if you have doubts about something, you might be sinning right then and there. If you doubt the ability of God, you just might be committing sin. Talking about, “I don’t know if the Lord…” Well it doesn’t matter if you know whether or not, you know the Lord is able. He is an able God.

We know what repentance is, don’t we? Repentance begins with a change of mind; first it’s a change of mind about self. You stop depending on self because self will get you in trouble. Jesus says if any man comes after me let him first deny himself. Then it’s a change of mind about sin. You see, you stop calling sin what you think it is and call it what it is. Have you ever noticed what we’ve done with sin now? We don’t call it sin any more; we give it other names. We call adultery having an affair. Fornication is getting to know you better. We refer to homosexuality as doing your own thing. We don’t even call it stealing any more; we call it embezzlement. But the Lord calls it sin. And if Jesus calls it sin, that’s what we’ve got to call it. It doesn’t matter how you dress it up, its still sin.

And, very importantly, we must have a change of mind about the Savior. We must know he means what he says when he says to repent or else I’ll come to you quickly. Don’t think you can hide because you’re holding a position. The Lord will show you where your wrong spots are and give you a chance to get it right and repent of your sins. But, at some point, he will expect you to change in order to avoid a head-on collision. God is a quick God. Don’t wait too long or you may have only enough time to beg mercy.
