Find The Burning Coals

Revelation 3:2

Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.

God really knows how to stir us. Sometimes he’ll allow things to happen in our lives to stir us. Sometimes He gives us some friends, but then he turns around and gives us some enemies. He gives us some sunshine, and then gives us a little rain, good days and then some bad days. And then He shakes it all up together and stirs our lives. He motivates us to get on the right track again. I have discovered, Saints, that if you’ve once been on fire, it doesn’t take a lot to get you on fire again. When I was young at home at night, Daddy would put a big stick in the fireplace. And all of us would go to bed and go to sleep. When we woke up, we could see no fire; nothing but ashes; it seemed as though the big stick had burned out. But when Daddy would stir the ashes, live coals were still in there. He didn’t need another match, he just put some kindling on top of the live coals and the fire started burning again. And that’s really the way it is with saints that are truly saved. The fire is still there; you just need to be stirred a little bit.

Be watchful and strengthen the things that remain that are ready to die. He says you’re at the point of death; it won’t take much to push you over, but I want you to know you can still live. You must be spiritually alert. But he also says there must be spiritual broken-ness-repentance. Most people think that if they don’t lie, don’t steal, don’t commit adultery, don’t commit fornication, don’t drink, and don’t gamble that they are clear. But if you try to move in life without moving by faith, you’re committing sin. The Bible says without faith it is impossible to please Him. For he that cometh to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them diligently seek Him. So he says to have brokenness and strengthen that which remains.
