Don’t Let Go!
Revelation 3:11
Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
Behold, I come quickly. Time is running out; we don’t have very long to get it together. God tells the church to hold fast to what you have. There are those that are in and out of the church, faithful today yet they don’t show up in a month or two. But know that a winner will never quits and a quitter will never win. If you have the love of Jesus, hold on to it. If you have the faith of the Master, he’s saying “Don’t let it go!” Hold fast to what you have that no man take your crown. Now the crown here doesn’t mean your salvation because no man can steal your salvation. You say “Wait a minute preacher, I know some people that were saved and they’re not saved any more.” No, you know some people that were in the church, but you don’t know anybody that was saved and then lost. They used to sing in the choir; that doesn’t mean they’re saved. They used to preach; that doesn’t mean they’re saved. You see if you’re saved nothing or nobody can steal your salvation.
Any faith that fizzles before the finish had a flaw from the beginning. In other words, a person may look like a Christian, act like a Christian, sound like a Christian, but they aren’t a Christian unless they have accepted Christ as their personal Savior. Every one of us have crowns that represent the works that we’re doing while we are here. So what he’s saying is not to let anybody make us mad enough to go home and sit down. Don’t let nobody talk you out of serving the Lord; don’t let anyone get you so upset that you hang up your robe or lay down your usher’s badge or close your Bible. You’ve got to keep working until the day is done. I’m glad I represent His name—a name that soothes my sorrow, heals my wound, drives away my fear, and gives me joy in the midnight hour. Oh I love His name. Be faithful until death and receive a crown of life.
