Movements And Motives

Psalm 139:2

Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought ajar off.

The Lord watches our movements. He is observing us. He doesn’t just look at you when you are at church. Some of us think that when we leave church we’re not only through with church until next Sunday but we are also through with God. We walk out and let our hair down; take our hat off; and go to cussing and get out bottles and all kinds of stuff. But you didn’t leave God back here. He watches your every move. Can you imagine looking in your rear view mirror and seeing somebody following you? After you go in your house, you notice them looking in the window. You pick up your phone and it’s bugged. You turn on your television and a picture of you comes on. They have a camera on you. Well can I let you in on a secret today-you’re being watched. You’re being trailed. The Lord is listening to everything you say, watching every move you make. Maybe you’re not so good that you want him to watch you all the time.

Not only does he watch our movements, but he is also mindful of our motives. The Bible says he understands my thoughts. Motives added to movements don’t always match up. Not everybody who shouts is happy. Everyone who grins at you doesn’t love you; some times smiling faces tell lies. You may judge a person by movements although you don’t know their real motives. And sometimes you embrace people with bad motives because they are good talkers and get in your heart. Later that person can stick a dagger in you because they were able to get close to you. Or you might turn someone away unknowingly that has a good motive. Sometimes we try to get people to change their ways thinking we could deal with them better. However, God made all of us unique with different tastes and ideas. God is acquainted with all my actions and motives.
