Desire Becomes Decision

Genesis 3:6

And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to he desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her: and he did eat.

There are four verbs here that we can hang our thoughts on to help us understand the text. Eve saw, she took, she did eat, and she gave. Saw-when the woman saw the first time she kept gazing… a look became a lust. Now sometimes the first look is a careless look but when you look again, it’s not careless-it’s a purposeful look. I cannot stop a bird from flying over my head but I can stop him from making a nest there on top of my head. You see I may not be able to stop a pretty woman from walking by me, but I don’t have to keep gazing at her or have pictures of her hidden away. A look became a lust.

Then the woman saw that the tree was good food and that it was pleasant to the eye and a tree to be desired to make one wise so she took. You see that? A desire becomes a decision. You say well I got married and got caught up into this woman; she acted one way and then I found out that she’s a nut. Your decision began with a desire, which swayed your decision. You say you’re strung out on drugs because your brother persuaded you. No, it was your decision. A desire became a decision.

Then the woman did eat. A choice became a change. She chose to eat and her thinking was changed. She decided it was good. She wanted more and she wanted her husband to have some also. So she gave unto her husband. A sinner is a seducer. When a person is getting ready to do wrong, they feel better it they know others are doing wrong also. People are not satisfied in sinning alone; they will influence others into the same sin, bringing destruction in their lives. Withdraw from the temptation at the onset.
