Needs And Deeds
Philippians 4:19
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
When the world looks at you they expect something special from you. The world expects you to have a different attitude than they have. The world gets upset, mad, and curses out folk. They don’t expect you to do it. The world panics when things aren’t going well. When gas goes up past $2 a gallon the world gets worried. Saints turn around and say “But my God shall supply all my needs.” We need to help folk learn how to live in contentment in Jesus and not just pacify them temporarily. When a person comes and says their lights are going to be cut off, the church can help with the bill one time. Instead of getting caught up in the material, the spiritual should be examined. We ought to sit down with the person and ask what happened. How did you get in this shape? They say, “I work; I just got behind.” How did you get behind? Did you get behind by keeping up with the Jones’ buying stuff you didn’t need with money you didn’t have, trying to impress people you don’t like? You lost your job? Why? Did you have a bad attitude? Did you get up on the wrong side of the bed? Find out if there were wrong deeds and help them with the real problem.
Most of the time when people ask for help, they are folk that don’t tithe. There is problem number one. You’re cursed with a curse. When God curses you, how can the church bless you? When you deal with a person’s physical needs you feed him for a day, but when you deal with his spiritual needs you feed him for a lifetime. You see when you get it right with God He will supply your every need. God can take nothing and make it work for you. When you’re living in obedience, it takes longer for the gas tank to get down to E. Friends will invite you to dinner when the food is low. Someone who borrowed a little money from you twenty years ago will show up to pay. Needs are supplied!
