God does speak to us

Key scripture – “Thus says the LORD who made the earth, the LORD who formed it to establish it—the LORD is his name: Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.” (Jeremiah 33:2-3).
Do you know how to get insights from God about the hard circumstances and problems in your life?
Illumination from God comes when you pray and call to Him, and when He answers you, He “will tell you great and hidden things” about your problems and circumstances. Some translations have “mighty things.” NIV says “unsearchable things.” The Hebrew term used here describes fortified cities that were inaccessible and unassailable. God knows things about our problems and circumstances: great things, mighty things, hidden things that we do not know, and one of the greatest blessings of prayer is, God tells us things.
God does speak to us in and through His Word, but sometimes for His Word to become clear to us we need to be quiet and prayerfully listen to Him. When we pray we need to have moments of expectant silence during which we anticipate hearing from God. That is when He will clarify His word to us and give us insight into our problem. So, go to God about that person or problem, no matter what it is, that presents such a challenge in your life. God will remind you what good is being accomplished in that situation that you can’t see. God will tell you how the future will be better, even though it seems impossible now. God will remind you of the plans that He has for you, for good and not evil, for a future and hope. God sees everything that is hidden to you, and He wants to tell you about them. God is never surprised, He knows what is going to happen. You are probably thinking, “Can’t you be more specific about what God will tell me?” No, I can’t, because even though I know what God has shown me, I don’t know what the hidden things are for you. Isn’t it awesome to think that God, the Maker of Heaven and Earth, has some hidden things just for you? Things beyond what you can even imagine or think. Things that you could never have known. They are not for me or anyone else, just you. It is truly magnificent to know that there is something that only you and God know?
God told Jeremiah that prayer is the condition that He uses to tells us hidden things. “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.” You don’t learn those things in college or small group, or even church; you discover them in prayer. You don’t glean these things in good books. You don’t even learn these things in experience or through time; you learn them in prayer. Ask yourself: “What things from my prayer life have turned out to be ‘hidden things’ between myself and God? How are these intimacies affecting my daily walk with God?”
We can’t even imagine what we could know if we were more faithful in prayer? What is stopping you from praying without ceasing and listening for God to speak to you?
Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, thank You, that You have searched me and know me. (Psalm 139:1). Thank You for demonstrating Your personal awareness of everything about me and for showing me “hidden things” that are just for me. Help me to be faithful to Your Word and the convictions and the guidance that You have shown me. Father, You are the potter and I am the clay, continue to shape me to become more and more like Jesus. Thank You for showing me things that I need to give up and turn away from as You burn off the dross, the sin in my life, so that I will come forth like gold. I know that my way is not hidden from You. You are The Lord, the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. You do not faint or grow weary; Your understanding is unsearchable. You give power to me when I am faint, and when I have no might You increase my strength. I wait on You and You renew my strength; I will mount up with wings like eagles; I shall run and not be weary; I shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:27-31). Father, I will keep my eyes, ears, and heart open to receive what You have for me. Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding; he reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him. To you, O God , I give thanks and praise, for you have given me wisdom and might. (Daniel 2:20-23). In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
