The Profits Of Patience
Revelation 14:12
Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Luke Chapter 16 gives us an example of patience. Lazarus, a sick beggar full of sores, waited daily at a rich mans gate, desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich mans table. He just lay there day after day. The dogs came and licked his sores. Eventually, the beggar died and was carried by the angels into Abrahams bosom, but the rich man died and was sent to hell. Matthew 25:46, declares, “And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.” But the righteous – those are people that deny themselves, take up the cross and follow Jesus. People who believe that he died one Friday and got up Sunday morning with all power in his hand.
Here is the patience of the saints. Saints you have to have some patience, because everything doesn’t happen at once. Sometimes we want to grow faster than we should grow, or accomplish a certain goal overnight. But you must have patience. One good way to learn patience is by being a parent. Before becoming a parent, you could get up anytime you wanted and go to bed when you got ready. But when those children showed up in the house, you got up when they wanted to. A concerned parent waits on their own needs in order to provide for the children. You’re not out wearing alligator shoes when your children are bare-footed. And parents when you try to get rid of your children, you’re missing what God brought them there for, to teach you patience and to teach you selflessness.
So when God sends things in your life, he’s trying to create some patience in you. Verse twelve states, “… here are they that keep the commandments of God.” He didn’t say it was easy, but He says that they kept them. The righteous will have their patience rewarded with life eternal.
