His Workmanship

  Laura Ingle

Key scripture- “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” (Ephesians 2: 10)

Do you realize that God is at work in you right now, shaping you so that He can work through you?

“Workmanship”—We use that word when we talk about something that has been carefully and painstakingly crafted by a master, and we will say, “Just look at the workmanship.”

God’s reminding you today that your life has been, and is now being, carefully crafted by the Master for a specific purpose. Not just the general purpose that you would be a good person whose life honors God. God wants to use you in ways that only a person like you could be used. “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” (Proverbs 19:21).

Has your life been full of hardship lately? Then God must want to work through you in a way that could only be done by someone who has faced hardship.

Do you have physical weaknesses, pain and limitations? Rather than thinking they keep you from being useful to God, you need to offer your weaknesses to God and invite Him to use them. Ask God how your weaknesses can provide you with ways to minister for Him to others that you would not have had otherwise, and then follow His direction. “But for this purpose I have raised you up, to show you my power, so that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth” (Exodus 9:16).

When you accept that God has a purpose in everything, then you live in the exciting potential of God at work in every situation of your life—even the most unpleasant ones! “Brothers and sisters, as an example of suffering and patience, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. As you know we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of the perseverance of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful.” (James 5:7-11).

Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, it is so comforting to me to know that You use everything in my life for my good and Your glory. When I look back, I see that all of my unpleasant experiences and trials have brought me closer to You, therefore, I offer all my weakness and hardships to You to use as You please for Your glory. I trust You completely and I know that after I come out on the other side of my hardship, I will walk in a deeper obedience and trust in You that I would not have had otherwise. Father, Romans 8:28 gives me such comfort and reminds me once again that ALL things, not some things, but ALL things work together for good, and that includes the weaknesses and hardship that I am going through. “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28). Father, I take refuge in the shadow of Your Wings. I will not fear no matter how strong and fierce the storm is because You are right here with me. I pray, “Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, till the storms of destruction pass by. I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me. He will send from heaven and save me; he will put to shame him who tramples on me. God will send out his steadfast love and his faithfulness!” (Psalm 57:1-3). In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
