According to the purpose of Him who works all things
Laura Ingle Key scripture – “In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will” (Ephesians 1:11).
Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport is the world’s busiest airport measured by aircraft movements (landings and takeoffs of planes). In 2014, movements averaged 2,416 per day (101 per hour or 1.7 per minute). It’s no wonder that the job of flight controllers—those who manage the airplane traffic—is so stressful. Imagine the chaos and carnage that would result if there were no one to direct that traffic.
Now imagine the world as an airport and every individual—all 7.2 billion of us—as an airplane, coming and going as we please, and God as the single “flight controller” keeping track of our movements for all of human history. And not just our movements but those of the animal kingdom as well—untold billions more landings and takeoffs. “Are not two little sparrows sold for a copper coin? And yet not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will” (Matthew 10:29).
If God knows when sparrows fall, He knows every detail of your life, too. “Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written the days that were appointed for me, When as yet there was not one of them [even taking shape]” (Psalm 139:16 AMP). So the next time you start to fear the future, instead rejoice in the Lord’s sovereignty. Rejoice in what He has accomplished. Rejoice that He is able to do what you cannot do, and fill your mind with thoughts of God, like these:
“He is the Creator, who is blessed forever” (Romans 1:25).
“He is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).
“His years will never end” (Psalm 102:27 NIV).
He is King, Supreme Ruler, Absolute Monarch, and Overlord of all history. An arch of His eyebrow and a million angels will pivot and salute! Every throne is a footstool to His. Every crown is papier-mache next to His. He consults no advisers. He needs no congress. He reports to no one. He is in charge. – Author, Max Lucado.
This is the Sovereignty of God – No matter what happens or comes our way we have a God who is in complete control. God never ever promises and under delivers because He is Sovereign. He can do anything. Nothing is impossible for Him.
He is saying to you and me, “That thing that you are concerned about, is not a problem. I’ve got this. Let me handle this for you.” He is sovereignly working behind the scenes in each one of our lives. “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?” (Jeremiah 32:27).
The Sovereignty of God, gives the saints, You and me, the inside track to peace. Others see the problems of the world and wring their hands. We see the problems of the world and bend our knees!
Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, my faith and trust is in Your sovereign will as You work in the ordinary circumstances of my daily life for my good and Your glory. There is never a time when You are not in control. Help me to remember that I have absolutely nothing to fear because, You are always with me, and You are always in control. You are sovereign, Your authority and power is supreme, You never over promise, and You never under deliver. Nothing is to hard for You and nothing is impossible for You. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
