A Tale of Two Houses
Laura Ingle Key scripture – “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell — and great was its fall” ( Matthew 7:24-27).
The life that is lived with God’s Word at its centre can withstand any storm!
We all know how a violent storm shakes and pulls apart whatever is in its path. But a great rock in the earth is unmoved by whatever storm rages above it. God’s Word is the rock in your life. It is the only foundation you can build your life on that is always sure, and Jesus is the Living Word of God. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being” (John 1:1-3).
God’s Word never changes because God never changes. At some point in your life, the storm will hit and God wants you to know that if you build your life on His Word, trusting Him, following His principles, obeying His leading, putting all your weight on His promises, believing what He says is true, then you’ll be ready to face any storm; but if you ignore Him, if you fail to obey His Word, if you doubt that what He says is true, then the storm will destroy your inner life.
Make up your mind today to stand on His word; it’s a rock you can trust. “For I proclaim the name of the Lord; Ascribe greatness to our God! “The Rock! His work is perfect, For all His ways are just; A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and upright is He.” (Deuteronomy 32:3-4).
Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, You are my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, And I am saved from my enemies. (Psalm 18:2-3). You and only You are my rock, my stronghold, and my salvation I shall never be shaken. Forgive me for thinking that I can say that I love You and not obey and follow Your Word. I know that I must obey all of Your Word all of the time. Father, I know that when the storms hit I will not be moved because my feet are planted firmly on all of Your Promises. I also know that even in the middle of a raging storm I will see with my own eyes the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living because You will never ever leave me and You will never ever forsake me. “For who is God, besides the Lord? And who is a rock, besides our God?” (2 Samuel 22:32). You and only You are my Father, my Rock, and my God. On Christ the solid rock I stand all other ground is sinking sand. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
