Absorb The Word
Luke 1:20
Behold, thou shalt he dumb and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall he performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.
How is it that Zacharias, a priest, doubted God? Here is a man that was in conversation with God daily. He was praying to
God for a special blessing, yet when testing time came, he failed because he doubted God. God gets upset with you when you don’t trust him. It’s like a father talking to his son about dinnertime. The father tells the son they will have dinner in a while. Daddy can handle it. About ten minutes later, the son asks, “Daddy, when we gonna eat?” In ten more minutes, he says, “Daddy, are you sure we gonna eat anything? I didn’t see you bring nothing in.” The father said, “Son, you’ve never missed a meal. Well have dinner in a while.” But what if this boy decided to go next door and eat at the neighbors house because he didn’t think his daddy was going to feed him. It would insult the father.
That’s the way God feels when He promises you something and instead of waiting on God, you ease down to the slot machines. You say, “It’s taking God too long so let me get my own money” This upsets God because you are down playing what God can do. He is a jealous God. God doesn’t want you relying on anything except Him to supply your need. He doesn’t even want you to rely on yourself.
Basically, we are on the same order spiritually as we are physically. If you don’t take care of your body by eating properly, exercising, and drinking water you will have problems. Spiritually, we must do the same. We must read the word daily. All of your spiritual vitamins are in the word. Read it and review it continually. Also, research the Word. If you don’t go into the depths of it you’ll think it’s saying one thing when it’s really saying something else. Get into it. And then, release the Word!
