Are you an anemic Christian?

  Laura Ingle

Key scripture- “For we also have had the gospel preached to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because those who heard did not combine it with faith” (Hebrews 4:2-3).

Are you an anemic Christian? Have you failed to mix your belief with faith and obedience? The apostle Paul described this type of Christian when he said “these people have a form of godliness but deny its power.” (2Timothy 3:5).

Do you know what the telltale signs of anemic faith are?

1. When you no longer pray about decisions, you have anemic faith.

2. When you fail to speak to others about their relationship with God, you have anemic faith.

3. When you’re unwilling to spend time with God everyday, your faith has become anemic. You no longer have a living faith.

Jesus spoke to John, the apostle, through a vision and told him about some Christians who were part of the church in Laodicea who had anemic faith. Look at what Jesus thinks about people who have that type of faith:

“To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm-neither hot nor cold-I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see” (Revelations 3:14-18).

These are strong words from our Lord. We all need to realize that we are all susceptible to growing cold and anemic in our faith, and that the way to avoid it is to; read God’s Word, spend time with Him everyday, pray, and talk about Him to others.

Today, ask God to revive your heart and to restore the fire of your faith so that you will experience a vibrant and active faith that impacts the kingdom of darkness, then do what God tells you to do.

Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, revive my heart and restore the fire of my faith. Make me a courageous Christian, who is strong and bold. I do not want to be a lukewarm. I want to have a faith in Your promises that is so strong and unshakable that no matter what is going on I cannot be moved. I want to be fearless in what I do for Your Kingdom. I want to be faithful to You in everything and to carefully obey Your commands. Father, teach me your decrees, and I will keep them to the end. Give me understanding and I will obey your instructions; I will put them into practice with all my heart. Make me walk along the path of your commands, for that is where my happiness is found. Turn my eyes from worthless things, and give me life through your word. I long to obey your commandments! Renew my life with your goodness. I believe in your commands; now teach me good judgment and knowledge. You are good and do only good; teach me your decrees. (Psalm 119:33-35,37,40,66,68). In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
