Be Rich Toward God

Be Rich Toward God

Luke 12:20-21

But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall he required of thee: then whose shall those things he, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

One day, sooner or later, our souls will require another residence. This place is not equipped for our souls. This place is a good place for the body to be temporarily. But our souls will have to leave here and move to another place. You see what that man forgot about is that right now on planet earth the body and soul dwell on the same continent. Here is the problem. The soul doesn’t die. Whether you’re saved or lost, the soul moves to another place. If you’re saved, your soul goes to live with the Lord. If you aren’t saved, your soul goes to the bottomless hell. But what if you’ve been good around here? Be good all you want; if you don’t have it right with God, your soul is going to the bottomless pit. Well, what if I speak to people? Speak all you want to. Except you have accepted Christ as your Savior and surrendered your life to the Lord, you will not have eternal life with Him.

I’m not taking any chances on the Lord delaying his coming. If he comes today, or if he should come to night, I’m not worried. I’ve made provisions. I made provision for him to return. As a matter of fact, I’ll tell him to come on. If I never preach again, I thank God for the time he allowed me to be here. If I don’t see you any more, I thank God for the little time he allowed me to hang around here. The God I serve has been real good to me. God said, “Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee.” You might think God would have given him two or three weeks to get it ready, but the Lord said, this night. How many of us are praying to get through this night? 1 Thessalonians 5:2 tells us the Lord will come back like a thief in the night, Thy soul, yes sir, shall be required of you. Prepare eternally.
