Be Transformed

Romans 12:2

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Be not conformed to this world. Don’t be fooled by the dictates of this world, because this world will have you thinking you can’t make it. You’ll think that you will have to work on a five dollar an hour job the rest of your life. But God wants to help you change your mind. Your mind can help you out of a lot of ruts. Somebody is singing the blues today because the mind says its blue’s time. Sometimes God has to break in and take something from us to help us see the bigger picture of success.

Be ye transformed. Our minds need to be transformed. A person can be in a rut so long that they will automatically think of themselves in that way. All their actions will be based upon that way of thinking. Many African Americans still believe they have to come up on the tail end of the ship. Even after thirty years, if we’re not careful we’ll still go to the back of the bus although we’re able now to buy buses. Because that’s the way we think. We think the whole world is against us; and if you think that way that’s the way it will be. If you think you have to be defeated because of the color of your skin, you’ll be defeated because of your mind set. We think we can not make it. It is false thinking. The God I serve is color blind.

Likewise we believe because sin is so dangerous and so powerful that we must live as slaves to sin. We think we cannot live without committing acts of sin and our excuse is that everybody is doing it. However, when you have help you can do a lot of things. It just so happens we do have help. God the Father is behind me taking goodness and mercy. Jesus is ahead of me, the Holy Spirit is within me, and angels are on both sides of me. I have the whole heavenly host with me. We are not slaves to sin.
