Beginning of Wisdom

Key scripture – “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; a good understanding have all those who do His commandments; His praise endures forever.” (Psalm 111:10).

Give God first place in your life if you want to have the wisdom to put godly goals into place and live them out.

The most important thing about your life is your perception of who God is. If, to you, God exists just to make your desires and goals in life become a reality, then you will not have the wisdom or perspective to discern His way forward for your life. You will simply set your goals according to your own desires and count on God to bring them to fruition, but you will soon find out He is not a genie in the bottle that grants you your wishes.

If you truly understand the nature of God in all His glory, omnipotence, infinity, eternity, holiness, goodness, mercy and love, then you will realize that God doesn’t exist for you, but you exist for Him. In fact, all things exist for Him.

That reverence (“fear”) for God will change your perspective on life and enable you to see clearly the way forward from where you are. You will be able to see what He wants for your life. What He wants you to do. How He wants you to respond to your circumstances. Which way forward would most enable you to serve Him in life. By considering what He wants, you’ll gain wisdom, peace, joy, and you will overflow with praise.

In order to truly understand God and to get to know Him, You have to read and meditate on His Word and spend time alone with Him in prayer. What are you waiting for, start today to get to know God.

Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, I want wisdom and I want Your Will to be done in my life. I want to Love You with all my heart, soul, and mind, to seek Your righteousness first in my life, and to always keep You first in my life. I know that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and understanding. I know that that means I hold You in honor, esteem, and reverence. I surrender my plans to Your plans. I follow You and obey Your Word. I want You to guide me and lead me. I want to walk in the light not the darkness. You tell us in James 1:5 if any of us lacks wisdom all we have to do is ask You and You will give it freely without fault. Father, I need wisdom to live life as a child of God that is pleasing to You and that brings glory to You. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
