Beyond Yesterday

Psalm 90:12

So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

Whenever I think of yesterday, I have mixed emotions. I can remember I had some good days. But before I can shout too much over the good days I had, my mind focuses on some bad days. I had some yesterdays when I was laughing from morning until night. They were good days. But I also remember yesterday that I had some bad days. I can remember joy, happiness, and gladness, but before I shout too much, I remember some days I was wounded. I have scars on my heart that keep jumping up telling me about some stuff that happened yesterday. I made some good friends yesterday. But before I can shout too much, I can remember some enemies I made yesterday. I remember when I had a little extra money, but before I rejoice too much over the little money I had yesterday, I remember days when I was broke and couldn’t even borrow anything from folk I knew that did have money. If I could think only of the good part, it would be all right. But I can remember some bad days yesterday.

I remember yesterday that I went to the hospital to see babies born. I watched my sisters and brothers being born. I watched my son being born yesterday, my grandson and my granddaughter. I remember the good days of birth yesterday. But before I can get too happy over the births of yesterday, I remember some funerals that I attended yesterday. I had to say goodbye to granddaddy, and grandmother, to my daddy and mother, to my brother, my cousins, and my best friends, Yesterday is a canceled check. Yesterday creates mixed emotions, so I’m trying to put yesterday behind me. God wants you to use the time wisely that you have now. Make every minute, every hour and every day count. Since Jesus paid the ransom price by dying for us, we ought to be willing to live for him.
