Burdens

Key scripture – “Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee.” (Psalm 55:22).

A man was carrying a heavy load of grain down a country road. Another man in a wagon being pulled by a horse saw the man walking and said to him, “Mister, you need a ride?” The man said, “Yes” and he got in the wagon but he kept the load of grain on his shoulder. The wagon driver said, “Man, put that down and relax!” The rider said, “Oh no. It’s enough for you to carry me without making you carry this too.”

Have you ever done that to the Lord? You say, “Lord, I’ll let You save me, but I’ll carry my own burdens.” How foolish we are to do this with the God who hung the stars and planets.

We all need to picture Jesus looking in our eyes and asking us this question regarding our worry and anxiety, “And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?” (Matthew 6:27).

If you can trust God to save you from hell, don’t you think you can cast your burdens upon the Lord right now and trust Him with all your worries and problems?

What is stopping you, get on your knees and give it to Him, He is waiting for you, He has turned His face to You and He is leaning in close just to listen to you.

Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, I am so tired of carrying my burdens. Forgive me for not trusting You enough to give them all to You, and to not keep taking them back from You. From here on out, what I am going to do is give all my worries and burdens to You, and every time I take them back and start to worry and fret about them, I will get back on my knees and give them back to You again. I need to remember what Jesus said about You, “Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!” (Matthew 7:9-11). Father, You are a Good Good God who wants the best for me. You want me to be free of anxiety and worry. Right now, I will get on my knees before You and I will name each one of my problems and burdens and lay them before You at Your throne, and when I get up, I will not pick them up and take them with me, instead I will leave all of them there with You. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
