Can you discern the voice that whispers in your ear?
Laura Ingle Key scripture- “Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down” (Revelation: 12:10-11).
Can you discern the voice that whispers in your ear during the course of your day? Whatever voice agrees with what God says about you is the voice of the Holy Spirit. However, if the voice disagrees …with the nature of God and what He has said about your life, you can be sure it is Satan whispering in your ear, accusing you.
When you hear any voice in your ear ask “Who said that?” Use the filter of the Holy Spirit to discern who is speaking to you. For instance, God would never say to you, “I do not love you, or, your life is a failure, or you will never amount to anything, or this problem is so bad I can’t save you from this one, or you messed up so bad I will never forgive you.” He would never communicate words of shame and defeat to you, because He loves you and you were made in the image of God. When that happens you need to respond to the accuser with the audible Word of God, just as Jesus did when He was tempted, He told Satan the truth about Him, His purpose and His needs by responding to everything that Satan said with, “It is written”. (Matthew 4:4,7,10). James also tells us to “resist the devil and he will flee from you”, but this requires action on your part, which is, to respond to the voice that you hear with The Word of God.
Today, when you hear that voice, start asking, “Who said that?” And only listen to what God says about you in His Word.
Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, I only want Jesus to define my life. I will only listen to what You say about me in Your Word. I refuse to listen to the lies that Satan says about me and You because he is the father of lies. I know that Jesus came to save the world not to condemn it. Because Christ is in me, I am not condemned. I belong to God, therefore, I hear what God says. In addition to listening to Your Word, I will also be a doer of the Word. I will read and meditate on the Word so that I know what to say when Satan tries to whisper lies in my ear. Thank You Father for Your Faithfulness and never ending love. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
