Mark 9:2

And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.

Jesus took Peter, James and John. When you look at this, you may think that Jesus was a little prejudiced. It looks like He had picks in His crowd, because He didn’t have only Peter, James and John. He had many others who had joined Him as disciples. Often Jesus carried the three with him and left the others waiting. When Jairus’ daughter was at the point of death and Jesus got ready to raise her, He brought three in the house with Him. When He went in the garden to pray concerning the bitter cup he was about to drink, He left all but three disciples on the outside. Why did He seem to be partial to some folk?

Some people won’t let you get close. They will throw up stop signs to keep you back. Peter, James and John made sure that Jesus knew they wanted to be close to Him. John kept so close to Jesus that he would lay his head on His breast. When soldiers tried to arrest Jesus, Peter said he was willing to die to save the life of Christ. Passionately, He took out his sword and cut off the mans ear. When Jesus went to Samaria and came upon a crowd that didn’t have respect for Him, James and John were with Him. They made a recommendation that Jesus would let them call heaven and order fire from heaven to come and consume all His enemies. So Jesus said, “These fellows love me enough to sacrifice all they have for me.” Not only did they love Him enough, but they were also willing to be with Him.

They wanted to be close to the Lord. Is your heart’s desire to be close to the Lord? Do you sincerely want to be next to Him? If you truly want to be close to Him, He will most certainly let you. I heard Him one day talking about you all, John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
