Do you feel like you are in a pit of adversity?

Key Scripture – “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in your weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).

When you are in a major crisis do you feel like you are in a pit of adversity, like the world is collapsing, that your life is out of control, and that God is silent?

When that happens the silence can be deafening and you find yourself questioning God’s love for you and asking yourself; “Does God hear my cries for help? Does He care what is going on in my life?”

Even when you think God is distant and silent, He hears you and He is right there with you working His plan for you, a plan for good not evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11). You may not see it yet but I want you to know that His plan for you is already in motion. He has not forgotten you instead He is doing a thousand things behind the scenes that you are unaware of.

Whatever fiery trial you are going through God is using it to make you go deeper in your experience with Him and to make you more like Christ so that you are mature and complete, not lacking anything. That is why James said, “Count it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (James 1:1).

You also need to remember the trial you are going through is temporary, it will not last forever, and God will never ever forsake or abandon you. Instead He will bring you safely through your trial, pull you out of the pit you are in, and put your feet on solid ground just like He did for David, which David wrote about in Psalm 40:1-4 “I waited patiently for the Lord; and He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire: he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear The Lord, and put their trust in Him.”

When David was down and distraught over his problems he also reminded himself to put his hope in God. In Psalm 42:11 he said, “Why my soul are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet so praise Him, my savior and my God.”

When you are down you need to do what David did and start thanking and praising God for all of your blessings and for His love, and remind yourself of everything that God has done for you, and how good He is. You also need to rest in Him and believe God when He says that He will rescue you and set your feet on solid ground. “The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord, their refuge in a time of distress. The Lord helps and delivers them from the wicked and will save them because they take refuge in Him.” (Psalm 37:39-40).

This is a new day, The Lord loves you and His mercy is new every morning. Today will be a great day because The Lord is right there with you and He is working His plan for you. God is on the move. His life altering, window shaking, mind blowing blessings are on the way. His blessings are numerous and varied. God can reverse, restore, revive and renew. Be on the lookout for His plans that are already in motion during this difficult time. Trust Him, he can take any circumstance and use it for your good and His glory. So stop being downcast and discouraged because of your problem, and stop complaining, instead give praise and worship to The Lord with an attitude of gratitude.

Pray – Our Precious Heavenly Father, I thank you for being my refuge and strength, my God in whom I can trust completely. I will focus on your love and mercy today and the fact that you have a good plan for me that is already in motion. I know that You are right here with me and You will never ever forsake or abandon me that is why You told us, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9). No matter what happens, I will not live in fear instead I will rejoice today because this is the day You have made and I will be glad in it. (Psalm 118:24). Thank You for putting a new song in my heart. Thank You for pulling me out of the slimy pit and putting my feet on solid ground, and showing me the plans that You have for me and the path that You want me to follow. In the Precious Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
