Do you want to know how to get direction from God?

Key scripture – “Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left” (Isaiah 30:21)

Do you want to know how to get direction from God when you need to make a decision?

If you’re facing a decision large or small, spend time in God’s Word seeking direction.

In his book, The Lord is My Shepherd, Robert J. Morgan wrote about what to do when you are making a decision:

Open the covers of the Bible and seek Scriptural direction. This doesn’t mean there will always be a specific verse telling us exactly what to do. That’s seldom the case; but in the process of fellowshipping with the Lord in His Word, He’ll use Bible texts to give wisdom. Certain Scriptures often become helpful in the decision-making process. It’s hard to explain, but it’s wonderful to experience.

As you meet with the Lord each day in a special place, and as you spend time in prayer and Scriptural meditation, you will very often uncover some scriptures that seems to clarify your thoughts or give direction, and you will know when it happens because it will seem like that particular scripture jumps off the page when you read it.

In the Key scripture for today, Isaiah likened this type of experience to hearing a word behind us, our Lord, our Shepherd, whispering directions for the pathway ahead.

Before you make your decisions, read the Bible, pray for guidance, then use your best judgment, and trust the Lord. He will lead you in the right path because He is Your Shepherd. That is why David said in Psalm 23, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake” (Psalm 23:1-3)

You will not go wrong following the Word of God because His Word is the manufacturers specifications for the greatest human happiness.

Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, thank You for leading me, directing me, and guiding me with Your Word, which makes known to me the paths of life. I am your faithful follower and I will follow wherever You lead me. I will keep my eyes looking directly forward and my gaze will always be on You. I will not swerve to the right or left and I will turn my feet away from evil. I know that my path will be level because You make level the way of the righteous. (Isaiah 26:7). I feel so safe because my ways are always before You and You ponder all my paths. (Proverbs 5:21). Father, Your Word is a lamp to my feet, it is like a flashlight, as You show me each step to take, and a light to my path, like a street light that lights up the road ahead, so that I never have to walk in darkness. (Psalm 119:105). No matter what happens, I trust You, because I know that the promises that are in Your Word are all true. Lead me and speak to me through Your Word. I come to You with an open heart and mind. Fill me with Your wisdom and pour Your Spirit on me. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
