Don’t Get Complacent
Genesis 6:12
And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
Noah preached one sermon a hundred and twenty years and nobody paid him any attention. The tragedy of the millions of people that were on planet earth is that only eight of them were saved. I wonder how many in the church are really saved. I didn’t say how many have religion, but how many in my church are really saved? There’s a difference in standing oh his promises and sitting on the premises. And just going to church doesn’t anymore make you a Christian than hanging around in a garage will make you a Rolls Royce. You must be born again.
And Noah preached and the people paid him no attention. As a matter of fact, they laughed at him. They criticized him. Noah was mocked year after year by people who didn’t have a relationship with God. They didn’t listen to him, but continued in their day to day living. They had become complacent. Not until the rain started coming did they run for safety. But I hear Noah saying after he reached the ark, “I’m sorry. The key to the door is not in my hand. God has the key.”
Remember during the days of Sodom when Lot went to the town. Lot pitched his tent in Sodom. Lot found a wife in Sodom. He raised Sodomite children. He gained his wealth in Sodom. According to the book of Peter, he had a sodomite spirit. He had somewhat of a worldly nature. However, because he was saved, God would not destroy the city until He got Lot out of it. I wonder what town is being spared today because of some Christians, because of some saved person that God planted in a certain place that has been criticized yet whose name has been hung on the wings of the morning. But God saves the community because of saved saints in the area.
