Don’t Give Up

Matthew 25:6

And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

I remember the story of the ten virgins. Five were wise and five were foolish. And they thought they had the time of the wedding feast at hand. Somebody said that the invitation said the wedding would be at six-thirty. But when six-thirty came there was no wedding. The bridegroom didn’t come at seven. He didn’t come at eight. He wasn’t there at nine. He was not there at ten. He didn’t show up at eleven. He wasn’t there. And when you wait for such a long time, sometimes you think the wedding is over. But at midnight, there was a cry and the people that were ready went in. Only the ones that were ready went in. However, there were other virgins that were waiting-without oil. They trimmed their lamps, but there was no oil. They cleaned their wicks, but there was no oil. And the reason they couldn’t get in was because their lamps had gone out. Do you remember the time you used to shout and get happy and you don’t do it anymore. Nothing is exciting to you about church any more. Is your spirit is dead and dampened? Do you need a fresh supply of oil in your Christian walk?

I don’t know how you feel about it, but when I look at the text, one part of me wants to get happy. I have peace within when I know He’s coming because I have already made provisions. If I were you and I hadn’t made the right provisions and hadn’t gotten it together with the Lord, I would walk starting today and say, ‘just a closer walk with thee, grant it Jesus if you please.’ Let me walk a daily walk close to thee because one of these days the hour will come and the time is up. There won’t be time to seek God at that moment. We must keep our lamps filled and our lights shining. Jesus is coming! Make sure there is some oil in your lamp because He will show up.
