Faith Tested
Key scripture- “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” (Romans 8:18).
God wants to build spiritual steel and rock-solid faith into you, and the way He will do it is through the fire of affliction. Why? To test you. The faith that can’t be tested, can’t be trusted.
The times that I have grown the most were not when everything was going fine, but when everything was going wrong. The time…s when we go through sorrow, pressure, and trouble are the growing pains of our lives with Christ. Haven’t you found that to be true in your life?
Someone wrote these lines that I have found to be so true:
“I walked a mile with pleasure, she chatted all the way.
But left me none the wiser, for all she had to say.
I walked a mile with sorrow and not a word said she.
But oh the things I learned from her, when sorrow walked with me.”
Are you in the fire of affliction? Trust and believe that God will see you through and make you stronger, and you will come forth as gold, when the trial is over.
“But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.” (Job 23:10).
Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, I do not understand why I am going through all of this right now but I trust You because You are God and I am not. “Though he slay me, I will hope in him.” (Job 13:15a). That is why You tell us in Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, don’t lean in your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make smooth your paths.” That is so comforting for me to know that I can give all my burdens, troubles, sorrows, and problems and You take them. As God, You are worthy of my trust and obedience no matter what is going on around me. I will find rest nowhere but in Your Holy Will, a Will that is unspeakably beyond my notions to understand what You are up to. You are doing a thousand things that I do not even see so that all things, not some things, but all things work together for my good and Your glory. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28). In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
