For Goodness’ Sake

For Goodness’ Sake

Psalm 25:7

Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness’ sake, O Lord.

Most of us are in accord in that we have had numerous opportunities in life to accomplish great goals and those occasions passed right on by. When cable TV first came on the scene, I had an opportunity to buy stock. I didn’t think it was going to do that much, so I didn’t want to tie my little money up in Cable TV; three stations were enough for me. At the time, I had no idea that it would expand so far. I missed that moment of golden opportunity. Many of you ladies once knew a young man who was interested in you and even asked for your hand in marriage. However, because he wasn’t groomed the right way with a winning smile or wearing the right clothes, you rejected him. Then Mr. Slick came by and you chose to go with him. And now Mr. Broad Shoulders and Mr. Physique that you ran off with has his shoulders drooping and his teeth no longer in his mouth. And you ran into that person that asked for your hand that you thought wasn’t going to be nothing and he’s residing in corporate America. You didn’t want to tell him, but you told yourself you missed out.

Many go through school doing just enough just to pass. Some of you got fast too young. You got mannish too young. You had other things that would keep your attention rather than the classroom. You got wet behind the ears too soon and you learned too much too fast. You didn’t think you would need the knowledge and you missed chances to move up the ladder of success. Some of you had babies too soon. Momma couldn’t tell you nothing; you just had to go out there. Now you are weighted down. It takes almost as much as you make to keep your children going. So you missed opportunities. We can pray the psalm, According to your mercy, remember me O Lord for your goodness’ sake.
