Garments Undefiled

Revelation 3:4

Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.

In spite of the church being dead, there were a few that were still alive. And that’s what I love about the God I serve. I’ve seen some real dead churches in my life. But if you hang around you’ll find somebody in that congregation in spite of the church being dead, that is still on fire for the Lord and loves Jesus, a few names in Sardis, which have not defiled their garments. Can you imagine when Jesus walks in through the street of Jerusalem that he will have a faithful few that will walk with him in white?

One day there was a man that made it to the streets of Heaven and prepared to enter that Holy City, but said, “I have to find somebody that I can go in with.” He first saw men dressed in white, about twelve in number, and asked the angels “Who are those folk?” The angels said, “These are the prophets of old.” He said, “Well I can’t go in with the prophets because I’ve never been a prophet.” He saw another group about twelve in number and asked, “Who are these folk?” “These are the apostles—eye witnesses of Jesus Christ.” He replied, “I can’t go in with them because I was not an apostle.” Another group came along and he asked, “Who are those folk?” “These were people that were murdered and did not live out their normal life.” He said, “I can’t go in with them because I was not murdered.” And then he saw another huge number on their way to the gates, Rahab, that prostitute that hid the spies of Moses, and David, that brother that had committed adultery. He also saw Mary Magdalene, the woman from whom Jesus had cast several demons and the thief that confessed on the cross. “Who are those folk?” The angel said, “These are sinners that were saved by grace.” And that man said, “That’s my crowd; that’s the crowd that I’ll be able to go in with. Do not defile your garments. You’ve been washed.
