God Robbers

Malachi 3:8

Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

How are you treating God? Maybe you make it a point to treat your momma and daddy right. Possibly you even treat your husband or wife in a respectful way. However, how careful are you in the way you treat your Lord and Savior? After treating others special, do you turn right around and rob the God that wakes you every morning? Hebrews 7:9 tells us that Levi, a priest, who received tithes, turned around and payed tithes to Abraham.

When you fail to tithe, you are spiritually and morally low, because God does more for you than anybody. As a matter fact, you can’t think of anything you have that God didn’t give to you. Where you are God brought you. What you have God gave you. What you know God taught you. And so it’s hard for you to look under eyed at your child mistreating you and you treat God that way every week.

You get on your knees and say, “Lord I need a good job. Lord I need you to bless me with finances. Lord I need you to keep a roof over my head. Lord my health is bad; I need you to keep me in good health and give me strength. Lord my enemies are around; I need you to protect me from my enemies.” And then every Sunday you march around and tip God instead of paying Him tithes.

The writer asked a question, “Will a man rob God?” Will a finite rob infinite? Will dust rob divinity? When you fail to pay your tithes you’re getting in trouble with your God. You’re getting in trouble with the God that woke you up this morning. The God that clothed you in your right mind. The God that gave you a reasonable portion of health and strength. Say what you will or may, but the text says you are a God robber when you fail to return to Him his portion. And you can get by much easier robbing a national bank than you can by robbing God.
