Hide Me

Hide Me
Psalm 57:1
…Yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast
In the shadow of thy wings will I make my refugee. David is asking the Lord to hide him. You can think of a mother hen that spreads her wings when trouble shows up and the little chickens come and find refugee under the wing of the mother hen. If a hawk comes down to try to devour the little chicken, it might get the mother, but it will miss the babies. It is said that once a field burned and a mother hen was found dead. But when they raised her up all of her little chicks were still living and were saved by hiding under the wings of the mother. David said, “I have found refugee under the wings of God.” Have you found refugee under his wings? When you hide in God, your enemies will have to come through God to get to you.
David could look back to other times that the Lord did great things for him. When he was just a boy, he walked out before a giant Philistine who had been fighting all of his life. The odds where against David because everyone else was afraid, but he took his sling shot and five smooth stones and headed toward the giant. The Holy Ghost got in that rock and hit the giant’s forehead. David knew God had rescued him. He said you did it for me.
If you are facing something now and you don’t know how you’re going to make it, just look back over the other times that God brought you through. You see if you are dealing with something, this is probably not the first time you’ve beat it. If you think about it, God brought you through something last year and the year before last. Ten years ago, you were in something and God brought you out. If you look back at your past record, you know nobody but God brought you to where you are. And just your past footsteps ought to give you enough encouragement to go on. So David said I need you to hide me.
