In the beginning was the Word

 Laura Ingle ·

Key scripture – “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory.” (John 1:1, 14).

Do you know why Jesus was referred to as “the Word”? Because He is God speaking to us – God wants you to know Him! Jesus expressed in word and action what God is really like.

The whole Bible is about God revealing Himself to people. Even in your own life, God is constantly reaching out to you, inviting you every day to live your life in close relationship with Him.

That’s why He has given us the Bible, which is also called “the Word”. God wants to be totally involved in your life today. He doesn’t just want you to be a “committed Christian”; He wants to walk with you through your day, minute by minute, on a relational level. He wants to be connected and involved in everything that you do in your life and everything that happens in your life.

I encourage you to make your life a pursuit of God! When the Bible talks about “seeking God”, this is what it means. It means that you look for any way, any opportunity to get to know God better on a personal level. God is inviting you to a closer walk with Him. He wants to be involved in every aspect of your life.

If you are asking yourself: “How can I get to know God better?” You can do it by; opening His Word and reading and meditating on it, getting alone with God on a daily basis and getting on your knees, and praying, and talking to Him about His Word, your day, your job, your family, and what is going on in your life. But don’t just talk to Him in the morning or at bed time, but all throughout the day. He is waiting right now to hear from you.

Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus, who is The Living Word, my Precious Lord and Savior, who showed us how to live a life of Godliness. Father, I want Your Word to richly dwell in me and fill me with wisdom and understanding. I will read and meditate on the Word of God and let it transform me because “He who is of God hears the words of God…” (John 8:47a). Jesus told us that if we hear the Word of God and do it then we are His family when He said, ‘My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.’” (Luke 8:21). I will do what You say to do in Your Word, because I am a member of the family of the Living God. Father, I want to stay in touch with You all through the day, because I want You to be a part of everything in my life. It is truly amazing to me that, God, the Creator of the universe, Who is adorned with Glorious Splendor, Who is Majestic in Holiness, Awesome in Glorious deeds, Great, Mighty, and Magnificent wants to hear from me. I am in awe of Your love for me! In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
